Dr. Danielle Dick
This tool was developed by Dr. Danielle Dick, a Professor of Psychiatry at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and the Director of the Rutgers Addiction Research Center (RARC), the largest addiction research center in the world. Dr. Dick is an internationally recognized and award-winning researcher who studies genetic and environmental influences on human behavior. She has led and contributed to more than 25 grants from the National Institutes of Health, with grant funding totaling >55 million dollars. She has >425 peer-reviewed publications in the areas of addiction, mental health, genetics, and human behavior, and has won numerous national and international awards for her work. Dr. Dick is passionate about making research accessible. Her book, The Child Code: Understanding your child’s unique nature for happier, more effective parenting, was published by Penguin Random House in 2021. CARES is an effort to bring the latest research in genetics and epidemiology to the public, so you have access to these findings and can use them to support your health and wellbeing. When she is not working on science, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband and two children.

Maia
Maia is a graduate student in Behavioral Systems and Neuroscience program at Rutgers University. When she’s not mailing DNA kits, she loves going on hikes and spotting bears!
Emily
Emily is the Program Manager for the Rutgers Addiction Research Center led by Dr. Dick. When she isn’t coordinating center logistics, she loves walks with her dog and traveling to new places.
Fazil
Fazil has a Ph.D. in Probability and Statistics and wrote the code to calculate the genetic risk scores. He also fluently speaks four languages and likes woodworking, playing chess, hiking and solving mathematical and geometrical olympiad problems.
